I've read where you shouldn't burn the pressed logs with regular wood. It builds up too much heat or something.

When we first moved here there was a saw mill cutting oak about 20 miles from here. After the logs had been peeled of the bark the logs were squared for cutting. They'd put the cuttings in bales 16' long and 4' in diameter and band them. $10 per bale. Leave the bands on and start slicing to length. Good burning wood that was cheap and easy.
