Subject: The Boy Scouts
re:J.F Shepard - "I do say their discriminitory practices are wrong however and that they should not receive public money or the use of public buildings."

You should be glad to know that the City of Los Angeles is of the same mind as you. They cut ties with the Boy Scouts two years ago. They spent alot of time and energy to punish the Boy Scouts, instead of focusing on helping boys turn into responsible men.

Then...
"L O S A N G E L E S, Nov. 29 — The Los Angeles City Council voted 11 to 0 to cut the city’s ties with the Boy Scouts of America, saying the group’s exclusion of homosexuals and atheists was discriminatory"

"LAPD to Drop ‘Explorers’ Under terms of the measure, the Los Angeles Police Department will be asked to dismantle its Explorers unit, a Boy Scouts-affiliated police cadet training program for young people, within 90 days"

Things have gone downhill morally in this country since my youth. I think one of the reasons is because in the name of "rights" we treat generally abherrent behavior the same as we treat what we would LIKE to see people become. BSA is one of the best operations in the WORLD to teach good upbringing. Sadly, they are attacked for holding on to their core values. Well, at least its saved me money, I NO LONGER give a SINGLE DIME to United Fund and I was a faithful contributor for many years. So, I am now exercising MY RIGHTS which is to put my money where I believe it will do the best good. United Fund is NO LONGER that place. JDN
