We have a city ordinance that will fine anyone $500.00 minimum for cutting down an oak tree above a certain size. Besides the environmental issues, wildlife etc., they don't want the city to be bulldozed. I think the river winding through has a lot to do with it. You see a lot of people fishing here just about everyday, from boats on the river and street bridges. And from an economic standpoint, there isn't much else to attract people to come here. It really has a small town feel to it even though Tampa is right next door.
