lafe hubert or Lazarus Long The first quote is Hazel Stone talking to Lazarus Long aka Dr. Lafayette Hubert MD in The Cat Who Walks Through Walls. Hazel finds out that Lazarus has tried to convince her husband, Richard Ames, to go on a mission which will likely be fatal. She gets very mad claiming Lazarus, with his vast experience, has knowingly taken advantage of Richard's cultural background. The second quote is also from the same novel, it is Colonel Richard Ames talking about Lazarus Long before he discovers that Lazarus is his father. Here is a third and final quote from an unrelated Heinlein website. <<It is clear that Robert Heinlein loved this character and enjoyed manipulating him, just as Lazarus enjoys manipulating those around him.
