No, it's not hush money.

Sounds more like money for overall development of Israel and strengthening its defense capabilities.

Of course, the Saudis don't like this. But they rely on the US for protection. Remember the House of Saudi is quite "illegitimate" and might be overthrown by other claimants. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Saudis were quite concerned about the incursion of Shi'ite Islam into their kingdom and all that it might imply. It was and still is worried about Iraq's intentions. So they have been happy to have the US as an ally despite their dislike for US helping Israel.

BTW, one of the complaints of Osama is that the US reneged on its promise to pull out of Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War. If the Us pulled out of Saudi Arabia, then Al-Qaeda will become very strong there. To be sure that will be bad news for many. It is a catch 22 situation for the US.

? I wondered why they are not speaking out but with so much money moving around I now wonder if they think speaking out will shut off some of the bucks from Saudi etc.

I would think that the money from Saudi Arabia would slow down, after the terrorists made some of them look like fools.

Of course, that was the plan of the terrorists.
