Over one-half of the securities listed on the NYSE securities are now preferred stock. Only a tiny fraction are REITS.

A far number of these preferred are actually subordinated debt that has been acquired and put into a trust as preferred stock. Thus the preference in any type of liquidation or bankruptcy is better than any type of equity. They are listed here:
