Tommaso,

Yes the work is hard - the person farming must be strong - lots of lifting etc. The tractors and combines have cabs with all the comfort items you have in your car.

It must be a labor of love, but the margins are not the whole story. The quality of life is good and they have all the amenities in the rural areas as we have in the cities. The utilities are co-op and a fraction of the cost we have in the cities. Cost for keeping crime under control is nil. <g> The farmer's costs for housing and food are nil. The house on our farm and other buildings were paid for when they were build it the 1890's. <g>

My nephew who farms our land feeds out steers during the summer and sells them. He uses grains and hay from the land for this feed for no cost and sells the animals in the fall. He uses these funds to invest for his children’s college education.

I would not feel to sorry for these folks - they have homes in Arizona and as soon as the kids are in college they head south from October through February.

Farmers will die tomorrow, if we do not provide subsidy. In true sense of free trade, they cannot compete with south american farmers, I am not thinking of chinese farmers.

Real Estate has seen its peak for a long time in real dollars. It may not crash for a long time as GreenSCAM will keep the tap running & suck everybody in. I count on long term rates in mortgage dropping to 4%.

Insurance & Health Care have kind of monopoly, it is going through roof. We all are paying for their losses in Stock Market. This got to stop otherwise we will become totally incompetitive in the world.

It is shame Shrub is going to bail out his Insurance buddies for the liability. We the J6P are stuck to clean up every one's A?S.
