I once felt the same way the "liberal press" did about Limbaugh. To me, he was an arrogant fatass. But then I actually started to read his arguments and listen to him, and I sensed an intelligence that I never expected, much less credited to him by the mainstream media.

This was my feeling as well -- when I first heard Limbaugh, in 1988 a Dallas station just started re-running his weekday shows on the weekends. My immediate reaction was, "What a pompous, arrogant ass!". But then, when I listened to the guy -- not even a college graduate -- I found a kind of intellect that simply didn't exist elsewhere. Today, he is much, much more polished and he is clearly supported by a research staff that does a great job.

The complaints against Limbaugh, I believe, are based solely on the complaintant's ideology. I've yet to hear a valid criticism of Limbaugh's analysis.
