I don't know where to find the PPP, but that was sure my belief. If I cook my own food and drive my own 1995 Tercel getting 39 mpg highway and about 30 mpg city, I get around very cheap. Of course all my relatives are buying Prius gas/electrics, but I figure I paid $8,000 and they are paying $21,000+ so I am still way ahead.

I guess I do notice that US cereals and bread products seem to be ratcheting up in price; I don't like paying over $3 for a box of Raisin Bran.

But there is so much food in the US that anyone who wants to risk arrest and dumpster-dive can eat for nothing! They throw away frozen pizzas by the dozen around here. And fruit. And bread products. And other stuff that I don't know about because I am a little old for dumpster diving.
