It is OK to try to understand why a suicide bomber does what he does, and that should in no way be interpreted as excusing or endorsing that act.
Mani, well said.

When a liberal "understands" why a suicide bomber "does what he does", it is implicitly excusing the act.

Its like you speak a different version of English. That's not what I said at all nor does saying "I understand" mean I am excusing the act. Please stop making things up as you go along.

It is the same crap liberals do with all manner of criminals -- eliminate the concept of personal responsibility.

Never once did I say that. You read what you want into what what people say.

To "understand" why a suicide bomber kills babies is precisely the same thing as saying, "well, I can see WHY he did it". When you say, "I can see why he does it", it is effectively bringing about a conclusion that the behavior is reasonable. Which it isn't.

That's your conclusion, and only your conclusion. There's no point in me trying to interrupt your internal dialogue; it refuses to let anyone else in or allow anyone to suggest something that might interfere with your fixed-in-concrete value system.

Well said? A totally self-conflicting statement, I'd say.

Clearly, you wouldn't understand.

Wow, that is one of the most stupid and absurd statement I have seen in a very long time!
