Most of Nokia'ads are for the 7650 and no other models, not only in the big cities like Beijing and Shanghai but also the more rural cities. This is puzzling since the cost is so high that they couldn't possibly expect the masses to remotely consider purchasing.

One possibility: By hyping their top of the line phones they create a brand image that helps sell their low end product. People want to be associated with and use products of a classy vendor. Ads for expensive products can help build that image.

In either case, I strongly believe that China would join the Korea and Japan next year in terms of wireless applications. Unless cornbrain wakes up, along with VZ, US is going to be left behind. Europe pretty much has no chance of keeping up with this break neck pace.

Gotta love those Mainlanders. They can send text messages on grey-scale handsets now. I sure hope PCS can catch up with that.

Next thing you know, they'll have a nationwide 1x network, flat-rate unlimited data, 6 color handsets and 2 color PDAs, an imbedded camera phone, and an online interface to your account.
