If horses like stock fund in/outflows and insider buying don't show up woth the goods, then maybe those zebras need looking at. I agree manipulation cannot create a sustained substantial move. That's partly why I don't think the recent rally will be sustained. Trading support and resistance in the last 3 or 4 months only works for a few stocks. It doesn't seem to be working well for indices at the moment. It is worth having another look at the cynics arguments. This market is manipulated. Look at how the US futures trade in relation to the UK futures at 3.30AM. PPT arrives at a desk in london and pumps. Same thing happens about 7.50am to juice the premarket. Doesn't happen when indices are above support, happens when they have just dropped below, or when some bad numbers are about to be released, or when the fed is about to make a panic 50 point cut.

What does this mean Grace' "group no matter what they attempt to do is capable of pushing it this way or that in any substantial sustained way. " I disagree completely. When trim tabs was reporting the largest inflow into the market still in the late summer early fall 2000, the bubble erasure was well under way, as member borrowing of investor shares getting a huge head start on what was to become a 2 year bear. We could easily parse the sentence to rationalize what is substantial? and sustained ? but it wouldnt do us any good. other than that I concur.
