<<InfoSpace (nasdaq: INSP - news - people ) Chairman and Chief Executive Naveen Jain has gained approval from a bankruptcy court to snap up some of the assets of Excite.com. Jain will use Excite's trademarks, domain names and user traffic as the centerpiece of a new service agreement with iWon, a privately held portal that offers daily cash giveaways to draw traffic. Under the deal, InfoSpace said it would power the search and directory portions of the Excite Web site, while the portal's other pieces would be sold off or licensed to iWon. Jain reportedly offered $10 million for the assets earlier this month, and did not offer final details on the deal. "We believe this is a solid business opportunity that will expand distribution for our profitable search and directory products," said Jain.>>
