Defeat is the deathbed and that which tucks us in. Such faith and promise, bedfellows that piss and stain the sheets, they are the shrouds pulled over faces, the wool pulled over eyes, the snickers and belly-laughs that carry on thick, humid breezes laced with ketone and perspiration. It is defeat that buries you, one loss after another after an another and one at a time. Shitting in public, wiping your ass on a menu and ordering dessert with the same poverty that paid for dinner. All you see are bile spills, blood splatters and drool. Defeat has blinded you, hope has curdled and time has run out.
