I love to see all the conspiracy theorists coming out of the woodwork, looking for motives, dreaming up unbased factual conclusions, etc. The simple fact is that it is likely that most of the 9/11 planning, financing, etc., took place during the Clinton Administration, as did the lack of resolute behavior against OBL and AQ which its war on the US called for. If there is blame on the part of the Bush Administration, it will clearly be shared with Clinton's. If you are looking for a political motive for Bush's appointment of Kissinger to head the commission, Safire, John M, and you might do well to start with the obvious, i.e., a skewering of Clinton and Gore that is likely to be delivered just in time for the '04 Presidential race to be heating up.
