I'm not sure what you find sickening. Yes a major war or a whole bunch of minor ones at the same time would result in a lot of death and destruction and maybe that is what you are calling sickening but it seems rather that you find being prepared for the possibility of such things happening to be sickening. It is sickening that people accept their leaders' inability to resolve disputes peacefully. Of course the horrors that might happen if the US had no military would probably be worse. No military capability is as extreme as excessive military capability. Al
