Looks like you are a Bush supporter. OK. Whether Bush has been correct or not, I genuinely don't know. But we did need a very serious investigation, independent, of the 9-11 precursors. We got a bit of that with the congressional stuff but not nearly enough. However, that's all we will get. At least that's the way it looks now. My own chips are on nothing new popping up and on a report which crafts proposals with which Bush and his folk are quite comfortable.

Neocon, What we need is an inquiry that will identify the system failures that led to 9-11. The Challenger inquiry is a good model. The fact that Richard Feynman, the most important living physicist at the time, sat on that commission gave that commission rock solid credibility. The debate about whether the mistakes happened on Clinton's watch or Bush's watch are nice little sidenotes in an ongoing partisan debate but they provide absolutely no value and no insight into why the system failed. A well-constituted commission would provide blanket immunity to everyone at the start - no personal, political or institutional blame. We need to know how the design and operation of the national security systems failed to protect us from 9-11 so that we can get on with redesigning the system so that it functions in the future. It is clear that the entire system was not designed with 9-11 type events in mind. Finding individuals to blame is strictly an effort in political masturbation. That game won't stop no matter what the nature of the commission or it's findings. Paul
