the US is repeating the Japanese policy response
but unlike Japan, we have two distinct foreboding disadvantages

1. we require an imported $800-900 billion annually
both federal and trade deficits are growing

2. we dont save, but rather run deep in debt
76% of the entire US GDP is devoted to debt service

each demands a lower dollar
Japan cooperated with a lower yen in order to appease their exporters
Sony just last month complained, so BoJ bought USDollars
the USA is fighting a lower US$ tooth & nail
a lower dollar will raise all import costs (imported inflation)

we are not Japan, we are worse off
China will continue to gut Japan's mfg base
and will continue to erode US mfr's pricing power

buy gold, you babbling idiot!
by this time next year, you will be dismissing gold investors for other inane reasons
even while they are profiting handsomely
so far this year, I have almost 100% returns in gold shares
how is the Dow doing? S&P? Naz?
I will tell you for 2002
Dow -11%, S&P -18.2%, Naz -23.4%

when gold busts thru #330 and heads past #350
YOU WILL EAT CROW PIE, and maybe maybe shut up finally in your incessant negative dismissive tiresome PM's
