Significance is a subjective judgment.
You can be logical about making the subjective judgment, but the logic of a human is still limited by their POV- so we are not, and I doubt ever will be, really objective.

IMO, of course

Unsupported assertions are useless, he used to say in his wonderful, soft voice and accent.

All of the support eventually rests on unsupported assertions itself. Ideally however it will rest on unsupported assertions that everyone in the debate agrees are true.

I had Jacob Klein for his last preceptorial before he died, on the Thaetetus, Sophist, and Statesmen. Periodically, when he was too exhausted, he would ask me to explain things to the other students. He never seemed to find my argumentation deficient, nor do I think he would in this instance. But that is wholly speculative, and best left alone.

I assure you, planets existed outside of our solar system before 1600. My argument is that the differences are significant before anyone comes along to notice them. I am merely trying to get you to understand what the thesis is, at this point...........
