Hi ild; Here is a Dollar Volume Update;
While your liquid update may be right on I'll have to wait until
my Dollar Volume Indexes go negative.
I call it my DVI
---------------
I only use 11 stocks of the NDX, in one index
and 11NYSE S&P stocks in the other.
---------------
I select and weight the stocks by the amount of dollars they trade
using a 3 month average of volume.
Both indexes need to be updated and issues changed about once
a month. ( I only use the top 10 or 11 stocks that have the most
dollar volume )
I take ((price X (3mo volume) /10 ) to get how much money to put in each stock
I then find a starting place ( Nov 1st in my current indexes )
On nov 1st I took the price of each issue and divided it into the
((price X (3mo volume) /10 ) to arrive at how many shares of each
issue to put in the index.
-------------------------------
It's rather simple and I've been using it for a couple of years
( when I'm not out on the boat.)
It shows the money flow relative to the regular indexes.
If the Dollar Volume index is better that the regular index
we have good positive flow, if it falls behind it's time
to get worried ( or short )
While it's not really forward looking it , it most often shows
when the market sentiment changes in real time,
and 90% of market timers don't seem to see this.
--------------------------------------
Well here is the update
NDX from Nov 1 Up 11.68% ; DVI up 13.93% ( DVI positive )
Today NDX up .39% ; DVI up 1.39% ( they bought the dips )
& BTW they bought dips last Friday too.
----------------
SPX from Nov 1 up 4.52% ; DVI up 5.23% positive
Today SPX down -.19% ; but DVI up .46% ( positive )
They bought the dips Friday too.
-------------------
It's easy to see this is a Tech rally more than any thing else
and it's exceeded ( faster ) than what I thought could happen,
but what I thought don't count..the DVI kept me out of
trouble.
I suggest any one reading this to make up their own, Dollar Volume Index
( I don't always update mine and often I'm gone )
------------------
One other thing don't fight the Fed
keep an eye on
biz.yahoo.com
---------------
Damm rally sure has fooled me to the upside
I took profits twice already, however I'm still holding
most of what I bought early Oct. and will wait
on the DVI to go negative before I start buying
any more poots.
