Ted, <How do you know that the size of the radical fringe here in the US is smaller than the radical fringe in Islam? Do you have statistics from which you are quoting?>

You're asking the wrong question. Size doesn't matter. Look at the daily news and count how many incidents of violence are caused by radical Muslims vs. those caused by radical Christians.

Besides, isn't Islam supposed to be the "fastest growing religion in the world"? Wouldn't that suggest that extremist Islam is also growing by leaps and bounds?

I don't know the numbers but it is certainly smaller on a percentage basis than the number of people supportive of suicide bombings.

That said, I think it is incorrect to focus too much on the quantitative aspect; it is more of a qualitative concept.

Al Qaeda, Hamas and the other terrorists groups are very small in numbers....much like the radical right here in the US.

The "radical right" and the "radical left" and all the radicals in general in the US who have committed major terrorist acts or belong to an organization that has committed and is committing such acts are even smaller in number. Most of our radicals are just radical not terrorists.
