Yes, I remember that one - and it did lead to additional training.

It should be noted for the non-engineers that passenger aircraft (commercial) have their wing attached engines designed to break off under extreme stress - protecting the wing.

Designs with onboard engines (727, DC-10, MD-11) could be more dangerous if a small missle hit the center onboard engine.

This is not to say that a larger missle (than an SA-7) would bring down a plane.
