Interesting premise Thomas, as well as an expansion of your previous rhetoric claiming the US provided Saddam with CW technology (which I reject). However, it is unlikely either you or I will be able to prove or disprove whether these weapons were acquired with a "nod" from the US, possibly as a measure to prevent an Iranian victory in that 10 year war.

But Thomas, let's just pretend to agree that Saddam received a "nod" from the Reagan administration back then (or feigned indifference).

Doesn't your logic give the US the IMPLICIT, if not COMPELLING right/responsibility to ensure that these weapons are accounted for and never abused again??

If such a mistake was made in the Reagan years, methinks that mistake HAS TO BE put right during the Bush administration.

And it would seem to me that the UN involvement becomes irrelevant, in the face of the US cleaning up a mess you claim we made...
