Falwell and other evangelists of discord are measures of the same kind the world would frankly be a good deal better without.

While I'm no supporter of the Religious Right, it is certainly not appropriate to classify these people in the same breath as the Islamic Suicide Bombers. Falwell, et.al., have never, to my knowledge, advocated random attacks on ANYONE, let alone children and other innocents.

Al, <OBL is an extreme example...Falwell and other evangelists of discord are measures of the same kind the world would frankly be a good deal better without.>

So you think Jerry "Mohammed was a terrorist" Falwell belongs in the same camp as Osama bin Laden? Wow! Can I place anyone who claims "Jesus and his followers were liars or lunatics" in the same camp as well?

Last time I checked, Falwell isn't inciting his followers to fly planes into skyscrapers. Or detonate explosive hidden in their shoes. Or fire anti-aircraft missiles at planes taking off. Or bomb embassies. Nor is Falwell doing anything that indirectly hints at such extremist action.

If you find Falwell's comments distasteful and inappropriate, fine. Just say so. No need to associate him or anyone else you find distasteful with terrorists. That would be rather "intolerant" of you, which is ironic considering how liberals are supposedly the champions of "tolerance."

Alighieri Re...The problem is probably not with the Bible or the Koran or the Book of Mormon, or whatever credo people who need to belong to a religion read...it is with the men who interpret these books to suit their so human attributes and incite their followers to ghastly deeds of varying degrees.

I agree completely. However, another problem which came out of my discussions with Mani, is that Islam doesn't seem to have a central authority, such as a pope, who can reel in interpretations hurtful to Islam. Secondly, Islam really needs to be modernized. A lot of teachings in the bible; while politically correct then, are politically incorrect now, but the pope and cardinals have been able to change their interpretations to reflect modern values.
