Yes, the Israelis (Jews to be more exact) do trust in their God. But they, it would appear, in spite of that, were more realistic than their neighbors. Suffice it to say they had better planning, organization and coordination. Don't forget they get lots of help from the West. For reasons that should be obvious, the aid was supplied rather covertly.

In this day and age anyone can assume any names of their choosing regardless of the origin of the names. Some of the unusual names might have been the names of Moslem volunteers or Moslem sympathizers from elsewhere fighting for the Arabs. Talking about adopting foreign names reminds me of the fact that many Jews have adopted western names, too. Some adopted foreign names to function, in a manner oF speaking, as "chameleons". The great Einstein had often reviled against this practise.

I don't like the word miracle as it may have supernatural overtones and all that that imply. I don't believe in miracles. To me, any wondrous thing that occurs has the working of a natural law behind it. And, more often than not, mental and physical effort are involved. So, to me, a miracle is a pretty mundane sort of thing.

Yes, my ancestors had won and lost many battles. But the battles they won were often crucial ones.

I wouldn't call my worst enemy an Arab!

I would call some of my family members, and call my best friends an Arab as a compliment!
