Is the claim that the difference between 1 and 45,000 is bigger then the difference between 1 and 2 is a subjective judgement?

That is of no moment. Everything sounds like a subjective judgment to you. It is obvious that the difference between a circle and a square is greater than the difference between a square and a rectangle. That is why a square is classified as a subset of "rectangle"......
