note that in the book of jeremiah chapter two, verse three, scripture says israel WAS (not is) holiness unto the Lord. in verse eleven it states, "my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit." two verses later the Lord says, "my people have committed two evils;". God further rebukes israel in verse 19: "thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God". and in verse 32: "my people have forgotten me days without number."

later on in jeremiah chapter 34 God delivers jerusalem into the hands of the king of babylon so he can destroy it.
The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the earth of his dominion, and all the people, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying,
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire: --Jeremiah 34:1,2 |
