If it becomes clear that the FED will monetize the debt by buying further out the maturity curve, don't you think bond traders will front-run them? Wouldn't that drive yields down, at least in the short run? For the longer run, the question arises as to the effectiveness of such a move. Will the FED be pushing on a string, as they have been since Jan '01? Will they trigger an international competitive-devaluation war?
IMO, unless this stock rally proves to be sustainable, people will still see treasuries as safe-haven.
