I'm not particularly surprised you didn't know who Harper was. He's flown so far below the radar screen since March it's amazing anyone besides his wife and kids would recognize him. Partly he's wanted to get his own house in order first; partly it's been good strategy to let the world focus on Liberals beating each other up; and partly it's because the media don't want to do anything to help the Alliance. The Toronto Star will be a happy camper if the vast majority remain like you at the time of the next election, and say "Stephen Who?"

Your profile says you're from northern Ontario, so you're not really one of the 'eastern bastards', not like the real Satan (Toronto). In my response to Lazarus I was going to mention the possibility of Ontario dividing as well, since most of the people I've met from Sudbury north have no use for the folks closer to (416), and feel like they get the same kind of deal from Confederation that the west gets.

Misery loves company. It really does help to know that there are other concerned, thinking people out there -- it gives us something to build on, no matter how small. So thanks for piping up to say you're there. I hope you have lots of like-minded neighbours!

We have something else in common -- I'm keen on astronomy too.
