Or would there be another reason for not having a war that would leave intact Bush's reputation? Any reason that leaves Saddam alive and smiling is going to do nasty, nasty things to Bush's reputation. Speaking of political bases, Bush would have a whole lotta 'splaining to do to his political base, whom paul has christened "the red meat eaters". Since I think Bush is not essentially poll-driven in this endeavor, I think Bush will keep cranking up the pressure, one way or another.
