I was sitting watching the 1-minute ticker and by sheer chance i was watching just at the time this action started. My posts that i fired off in that time gives insight how a manipulated move works. I refer to SOMEONE is trying etc. This is how an engineered move can happen. The indicators are over sold but riding a flat bottom, some big money trading house or big money hedge fund starts hitting the bid to upside on stocks like MSFT, they have sent a signal(the others big money traders start saying so and so is buying the market using MSFT(or whateever others). It is at this point the 'someone' will succeed or fail in the ramp. It will have a sharp fizzle, or start forming a virtual micro CupandHandle on the 1-minute; at 2:31pm one could see the someone had got support and the table was set and at 2:33pm on THIN volume they move COMPX 8points in 4 minutes by simply , in quick time trading rapidly, jacking the bid on the largest caps, and voila, the shorts on a tight string start to cover. The sell-off at EOD indicates this was just a intraday quick money play, and the perpetrators were simply creating a situation for buy-side traders to dump their shares into short covering and also they could have then taken on a short position. The key point, we have never had more big money trading on an intraday basis,and this element means the individual day trading must watch every tick because these moves, up or down, start fast , except you know they generally do this in accordance to the same intraday indicators that we watch.They know shorts are getting edgy when conditions are oversold, the idea is to take them by surprise:) Max
