I expect that to be the Homeland Defense-enabled position, in spite of Ashcroft claims to the contrary. Don't bet on that. It may be a political position, but I'd bet Bush and Ashcroft stick with the NRA> There is no longer any need for the DOJ to hide whether they have gun registration information, they can now use it in court. If a prosecutor has proof that you bought guns or ammunition and it is relevant, they can introduce that evidence now. And they could have 200 years ago. Better trust your friendly government completely, there is no more privacy. Trust? Government? Those words don't belong in the same sentence.
