There are plenty of historical examples of bitter enemies making peace and living together peacefully. Even in our own country. Lest we forget, we were once at war brother vs. brother, north vs. south and we live peacefully today. The ME is a special situation. But, even there they can learn to live in peace.

"If Israel and Egypt can make peace"

I think that it helped that Israel handed Egypt it's own butt on a plate, so to speak. Before that happened, I think Egypt attacked Israel with the goal of elimination. What's your recollection?

"Secondly, there must be leadership by the US to help them do that."

Do you see any evidence that we have such leadership at the moment???
