Here is ONE reason it is important...Give me one motive of the apostles to come back into a city where their "leader" was just crucified by the Romans with the blessing of the Jewish leaders. They would be lunatics to come back to Jerusalem and start preaching Jesus. Either that or they were filled with the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus promised. Were theyt enticed back by money? No. No evidence that any of them had any money when they died. And every one of the Apostles, with the exception of John, were martyred for keeping the faith.. who would do that for a missing dead guy?? Why? NO...they knew...they knew Jesus is alive. Didn't they effectively do that by parading him on a death march and hanging him on a cross for all to see....didn't they wait for him to die? Who entombed the body? No. As I said earlier, the problem was not the death...it is the resurrection....they knew it would be a problem. That is why they put guards on the tomb. Whether it was Roman guards or Jewish guards may be open to some debate, but it really does not change the story, since they had every reason to want Jesus to stay dead....not missing in action. It could also be that his followers removed his body and hid it to perpetuate the myth or to take it some place where they built a secret shrine (long disappeared). Since the tomb was guarded, His followers could not have walked in and taken Jesus. And, as I said earlier, after Jesus appeared to the Apostles and then the Holy Spirit descended on them, they were totally changed men. They were preaching the gospel...do you really think the Jews would have let them continue and not prop up the body of Jesus to prove them wrong?? No way.such a simple tale is easily manufactured and would be readily accepted by uneducated masses..... I doubt that Christianity was an overnight hit. no, it is not easily manufactured. Jesus was known by his teachings and his miracles. Jesus was known by the prophecy he fulfilled, the Jews knew it. This did not just happen with a snap of the fingers. On the day of Pentecost, when Peter and the Apostles were preaching, over 3000 were added to the Church...I call that significant. The Church grew with the favor of the people.
