<<So where does that leave me....well...confused. >>
i hear ya, me too, this is a bugger of a market

<<am I the only one who finds that remarkably weird?>>
nope, i'm with ya there, i've never seen that before for this length of time, i'm leaning strongly that its bearish

<<Then guess what happens, an impulsive launch into January taking us likely to SPX 1000.>>
i hear ya again, and this scenario is in the back of mind
but seems alot of posters i read are also looking for another high and thats bothersome

BPOEX topped out here at 76, march madness '02 high was 79:

BPSPX topped out 68.40, only higher in may 01 and march 02:

if SPX drops to 871, bp would fall to mid 50's and then possibly ramp off that similar to Q1 '02

BPNDX topped at 82, highest since april 01, clearly toppy:
stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[df][pb50!b200!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G

BPCOMPQ topped at 49, guess there's room upto mid-50's:
stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[df][pb50!b200!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G

BPINDU topped at 73, only higher in may/june 01 and march 02:
stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[df][pb50!b200!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G

put/call has tagged the lower boundry of its UT:
stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[df][pb50!b200!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G

end result imo...we have made or are in the process of making a major-general top...yes there
is a possiblity we have 5-7% more upside from the recent highs...but trying to play it swing long is best left to...well, you decide

btw, is anybody seriously considering the scenario where we
dump straight into january with only a few cursory pauses to catch our breath?

cheers
