So why would you welcome them back with open arms?

I don't see them the same way you do. I look on the left in the '80s as doing their best to hand South America to Russia. Reading "Spy for All Seasons: My Life in the CIA," by Duane R. Clarridge put me on the side of the people you call "Criminals," as the "Good Guys." Reagan biggest failure, IMO, was not backing up the people he gave a "Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink," to get this done for him. If he had come out when Iran Contra broke and said, "Yes, I ordered this, and if you don't like it, impeach me!", it would have been a one week story.

So why would you embrace the return to office of a bunch of secretive power-hungry criminals who abused the public trust and have shown absolutely zero repentance about it?

Well, bless you. I've been trying to come up with a nice, friendly, supportive way to say the same thing without the thread blowing up. And you come right out and blurt out my censored thoughts.
