True. We even have the default world currency, just like the Brits, leading to overconfidence and The Fall.

Excuses from Brzezinski (and others) are amusing -- here's the main one:

"The US is history's first truly world power, since Rome, China and England didn't exist at a time when the entire world was as accessible as it is today."

As if that makes the slightest bit of difference to the Empire dynamics of arrogant overreach and failure.
