Sure there is a connection. If we are going to be the best country we can possibly be, we should treat other countries in the best way we possibly can. We should present the best image to the world that we can present. I think we could do a whole lot better than we've been doing up to this date. Much of the world views the U.S. as a big bully that is only interested in furthering its own economic interests.

I know we do a lot for the world: providing stability to the markets, technologically, via economic aid, and acting as the world's policemen. But, there is a seedy underside to our foreign policy that includes support for represive regimes, overthrowing democratically elected governments and installing and supporting brutal dictators, using our economic might to sway government's favor, etc. Perhaps that's the reality of the world we live in. But, that's why people view the U.S. as a bully and perhaps we should rethink the way we conduct ourselves in the world.
