I have a meeting today and may be closing my positions before I go. I have to drive for 90minutes and will be in the meeting at the market close. So....it really depends on what is happening. At the very least I plan to lighten my load a bit before I go.

Does anyone think today's action seems to indicate an important shift in psychology? Some highflyers resisted multiple downgrades until yesterday and today. Today the economic data is pretty good, with the possible exception of retail. So why did we gap and crap so fast?

I think it's because the Middle East situation is deteriorating faster than the market was willing to accept a few days ago. Iraq seemed to be cooperating, now they're accusing the inspection teams of spying. If I did not have ethical qualms over buying defense stocks, I'd be doing it now.

And maybe the hedgies have some tax loss selling to do now, and have been awaiting this moment.

AMZN finally wobbling, though I'd heard on NPR a few days ago that Internet sales had been strong of late . . .

edit: also watching MLNM, but would fade ASH news if I were to go long . . .

Cheers, Tuck
