I suspect conservatives had this condition after FDR. I can remember FDR bashing by many republicans until a new progressive conservatism came to power with reagan. And then with Reagan came a new reality and these liberal folks are still not accepting of Reagans success(just like FDR) as well as the fundamental changes made to the system. Thats where this emanates from imo. Democrats and liberals need to come up with their own new progressive ideology and stop fighting the welfare state battles of the sixties. One day i may be a neo-lib. What i really consider myself as is a progressive and whether it is TR, FDR, JFK, RR, GWB that i support it really doesnt matter. Times change and a progressive must be progressive and not worry about orthodoxy. Does this make any sense? mike
