Instead of arguing an alternate plan, much of the antiwar movement seems to be made up of know-nothings, too -- if Bush is for it, they're against it, no further questions needed.

We don't have an alternate plan because we still do not have a defined objective a/k/a How Do You Measure Success?a/k/a Did we win yet?

Is it Regime Change or Disarmament?

We do not have an alternate plan because we think there is much more to be accomplished with Iraq by having a clear objective. Pull out that "Vision Thing" Folder. And let's develop a crystal clear objective.

Then lets make some plans and alternate plans.

Maybe this all exists, but Ari is not letting Helen know.

Hi Nadine Carroll; Re: "... reminds me of a man who was playing tug-of-war, and has fallen on his back because his opponent stopped pulling."

From what I recall of my youth, the whole objective of tug-of-war was to win, not to remain clean. But the dirtiest ones are the ones on the losing team who are dragged along with the rope through the mud.

P.S. I'm not trying to make a comment on the meaning of your post (something about the left wing that I didn't care about), just the imagery.
