Hi jims,

I've seen the Hecla operation here (from outside the gates). Like the other mines, it is in an area far from the unrest. Except for the temporary fuel and electricity shortages coincident with the strike, I'd judge the operations as being out of harm's way. Certainly, there is no reason to believe HL's operation is anything other than clean, in the legal sense. I'd say, if the unrest here is the excuse for the stock not going anywhere, then you are being presented a possible buying op.

All that said, if Chavez somehow retains and consolidates power, I expect that inside of 5 years the entire metals and petroleum industry here will be nationalized. Of course, he'll milk every dollar of capital investment he can get before doing so.

If anybody still reads IBD, I am curious if they have made any mention of the apparently bullish classic chart formations of many PM stocks?

I stopped reading it because it reminds me too much of my days in the bubble.
