Most Linux and several flavors of Unix are same in lots of respect.

So how easy is it to take something like a point of sale program that's hooked into the backend enterprise systems running on Sun servers and put it on Linux boxes? You know, something like the systems in a typical discount drugstore chain where the registers in all their stores are connected all the way back to their accounting systems, order system, 6000 vendors and insurance reimbursement system, etc? If you migrated some of your servers and not others would they be able to talk to each other seamlessly? Think you could do it over the phone from India?
