I appreciate the points you make but at the same time, I feel it is irresponsible of Mr. Chretien as a lame duck to be committing to Kyoto (without provincial agreement) and committing to the Romanow Health care vision without provincial agreement (Ont and Alberta). The man IMO is desperate to leave a legacy and therefore is grasping at a cause to endorse and IMO a cause that is largely a result of his governments mis-conduct (health care). I believe Chretien should step down immediately and cause a leader to be chosen that will have to live through an election based on the decisions that the new leader makes with regards to Kyoto and Health care. Having no viable federal opposition is becoming a very unnerving situation. This one party system is dangerous. Do you not get the impression that the country is becoming unglued fast? I do.
