"This is a major difference between the thought systems of the West and the East. In North American thought, everything is black and white, might makes right, and you can actually say something must be destroyed before its causes are understood. In Eastern thought (not just ME, think Japanese, for example...) black and white only exists in children's books, victory by sheer force is not glorious, and understanding your enemy is KEY to defeating him. " This flys in the face of US history. Problem with US policy is that we are so strong and are able to wage war without casualties removes checks and balances. I worry about this. But the war on terror must be won for all our sakes. Saddam can be the catalyst for catastrophe down the road. I would urge you to engage Fred on this. He agrees with on most issues and is strongly anti-bush but he supports the current policy. mike
