Said's supposed to get a free pass for crap?


I was not terribly happy with that piece of Said's either. But Kramer's problem with Said had nothing to do with that piece. Kramer, for reasons I can only guess at, absolutely despises Said. And all his work shows it. Thus, he is an unusually bad source for judgments about Said.

I thought the Freund piece was more balanced. I simply thought the frame he put on his argument needed a second opinion since it was quite clear he took Said's opponents position in the argument. Not bad; just not the full story. And, with Said, it's always complicated.
