I think the reason is clear - the Bush economic team has been the administration's weakest link. Goodbye! ;-)

Seriously, there's work to be done and the team of the last two years had little credibility and less clout on the hill.

PS: It took a few minutes, but the market seems to have thought this through and come to the same conclusion.
