LOL, yes the European perspective is perplexing sometimes. The co-worker in question is a gifted PHD chemist, but it appears he has both tunnel vision and a blind spot when the topic is American foreign policy.

As for your retirement, enjoy and I hope it is based on fixed investments. My parents thought they were retired last year, now they are not too sure.

Reminds me of the stereotypical spoiled nagging housewife. Sits around all day on the couch, eating Bon-Bons, benefitting from the prosperity the husband has made possible, and all the while nagging at how everything is unsatisfactory and he never does anything right.
