I those are very good, relevant figures, but there are other interesting measures. Under Hoover, unemployment averaged approximately 12.8% per annum. Using 1938 as the cut-off, since '39 was the first year of serious increases in the military budget, Roosevelt averaged 16.7%. Hoover averaged a GDP of 77.1 billion dollars, while Roosevelt averaged a GDP of 76.2 billion. Of course, both figures are subject to debate on the basis of things like policy lag, but they are at least as valid as the stuff that is thrown around about Dubya.....
