Take action and write Senators, Representatives and The President...

and...

Lets hope Shrub tunes in and reflects on it.

my predominant inclination with misguided folks
is to take that approach. to find the best in them
and encourage it, hoping it will guide their direction
toward sensible action.

but shrub is already totally surrounded (of his own
volition) by too many chickenhawks and paranoid,
tightfisted wealthy dudes for any common man's voice
to penetrate the protective shield.

you can write till you're blue in the fingers but
you're not going to change his mind or heart. i wrote
him early in his presidency about the kyoto protocol.
i got back a personal letter with his signature (obviously
written by someone else - one of the shield). it was
so full of gobbledy-phricken-bullchit and without comment
on a single personal statement i'd included in my letter
that i realized no letter (short of bizarre threats)
was going to get any serious attention.

it's that kind of brush off that makes the peasants
start picking up stones to throw, and strap dynamite
to their bodies, and take flying lessons.

fortunately we have the ballot box to put our
scribblings into. that's the only writing GWB
is going to read... BUT 50% won't cut it, not
even 51%. it's got to be at least 55% to get
beyond the reach of manipulation and fraud.

you're writing to the right people scott... voters.
keep it up dude. you do good work.

that's who the people who advertised in the paper
were writing to too (even though they framed it
to look like a letter to the president).
